Update from Dorchester Living about Dog Waste Bins
Please find the following update from Dorchester Living about dog waste bins:
“Dear Residents,
The parish council have received a number of enquiries regarding dog bins at Heyford Park and forwarded them across to us at Dorchester Estates team.
We continue to support dogwalking at Heyford Park through the provision of dog bins throughout the estate, largely on main thoroughfares/footpaths as well as the discretionary provision of the dogwalking area at gate 7. These bins are collected through a contract with Cherwell District Council twice weekly. This service is paid for as part of the estate wide service charge. Please note that we are unable to place bins outside of the Heyford Park privately owned land/estate managed areas (eg in Upper Heyford village or Somerton). Please also note that all bins must be placed within 10m of a publically accessed road for the Cherwell contractor to collect it.
We have asked Cherwell if they are able to increase to three times weekly but they say they do not have capacity. We recently relocated a bin from the dogwalking area by gate 7 where there were previously two bins, to the junction of Izzard Road and Camp Road. Unfortunately when the Cherwell contractor was collecting from this bin, the bin slipped and broke.
Therefore we have this week ordered three additional bins to add to the bin capacity at Heyford Park.
We also note an increase in dog poo bags being left around full bins, being thrown in hedges and/or being thrown onto the construction site. We remind all dog owners that they are responsible for their dogs and their waste, and that if there is not a conveniently located available bin, that they should take the bag home to dispose of there. Any other disposal is of course littering/dog fouling and is subject to a fine of £50 for a fixed penalty notice.
Any future enquiries regarding estate management should be sent to estates@dorchestergrp.com with an accompanying photo and/or location details so that it can be addressed. “
